BURGOS, Spain—Burgos, a historic city in northern Spain, welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts on the evening of March 17, with a sold-out performance at the Fórum Evolución. For the theater’s events manager, Diego González Humada, hosting the company was a rare and remarkable opportunity.

“Moving, absolutely moving! A show of astonishing artistic quality. It has been an incredible opportunity for Burgos and for the Forum de Evolución to host this show in the city and in our auditorium. We’re very impressed,” he exclaimed.

Mr. González expressed deep gratitude to Shen Yun’s artistic director and performers for their trust in the city and venue. “Congratulations, and thank you for trusting Burgos and the Foro en Evolución as the venue for one of your shows—it has been a tremendous opportunity for us,” he said. “Congratulations, because what’s evident on stage is that there’s a tremendous amount of work behind it; it’s a gift you’ve given to the city and to the Foro en Evolución.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired heritage and share with audiences the beauty of China before communism.

Mr. González emphasized that while the forum regularly hosts artists from around the world, Shen Yun ranks among the very best.

“Fortunately, many artists and companies perform on our stages, and you certainly rank among the very best of the performances we host—we’re very proud to have been able to welcome you,” he said.

“Yes, look, the level of synchronization really stands out, as does the artistic caliber of the entire cast—the performers, musicians, and dancers,” he added. “That extremely high professional standard really catches the eye.”

Shen Yun’s live orchestra, which blends Eastern and Western instruments, was a highlight of the evening. “The truth is that it is undoubtedly one of the stars of the show, because it’s the unseen part, but it certainly conveys—that combination of instruments conveys emotions,” Mr. González remarked.

He singled out the piano performances for their emotional impact, describing them as “truly moving, truly moving, and very special.” The tenor’s singing, he added, was “one of the show’s highlights.”

Shen Yun’s singers are trained in classical bel canto—a style known for its ability to create tones of unparalleled beauty and purity. Through original compositions and lyrics, the artists invite the listener to explore the deeper meaning of life.
Mr. González was equally captivated by Shen Yun’s innovative use of high-tech dynamic backdrops. “The interplay with the projections really stands out—the ability to integrate more traditional artistic elements, like traditional dances, with that connection to new technologies and the possibilities that projection offers—that was impressive as well.”

He appreciated Shen Yun’s efforts to revive traditional Chinese culture, pointing out that the values they promote are universal. “They’re really relevant to our Spanish and Western culture,” he said.
