Despite the incident, the performance proceeded smoothly that day to a full house.
Italian Senator and former Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi publicly expressed support for Shen Yun in a letter, stating: “I therefore express my full solidarity with the organizers and artists of Shen Yun who, in the face of new and growing intimidation, continue to promote the values of an open and democratic society through art.”
Threats Fail to Disrupt Performances
Katerina Angelakopoulou, the presenter of Shen Yun in Italy, said that at 4:21 a.m. on March 16, her organization received an email in English from an address containing the message: “A bomb was planted in the theater; if the performance continues, an explosion is inevitable.”She immediately reported the incident to the police. Before the theater opened to the public, authorities conducted a thorough inspection. Both the secret police and central authorities were informed, and security measures for the performances were increased.
The show went ahead as scheduled, achieving great success without any disruptions in the theater.
This marks the latest in a series of threats directed at Shen Yun’s Italian presenters. During the February performances, another email—sent from a different address—threatened Italian President Sergio Mattarella and other senior officials if the performances continued.

She said, “This is precisely the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party. It uses deception, fabricating lies and employing false names, using every means possible to harm its own people. But it targets not only the Chinese people—including the artists of Shen Yun—but also the Italian people. It uses the same tools it employed to destroy traditional Chinese culture to destroy Italian culture as well.”
She added, “This is unacceptable! The Italian people defend their own culture and stand up to these threats without fear.”
Italian Senator Condemns Intimidation
Senator Giulio Terzi, a veteran diplomat who has served as Italy’s ambassador to the United States and permanent representative to the United Nations, published his letter in support of Shen Yun in multiple Italian media outlets. In his statement, he noted that Shen Yun is banned in China for portraying traditional culture before communism, and said that the increasing number of threatening emails is “deeply concerning.”

After attending a Shen Yun performance in Rome last month, Terzi also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the artists and organizers, saying he looks forward to the day when such performances can be staged freely in China.
He has previously highlighted Shen Yun’s core values, noting that without Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance, and without access to information, “people do not have the freedom to understand reality, to understand history, to truly unite, and to communicate with one another.” He added that these values align closely with the foundations of European civilization.

Audiences Inspired to Explore Falun Dafa
Based in New York, Shen Yun is dedicated to reviving 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through classical Chinese dance and music. Founded in 2006, the company tours globally each year, sharing traditional culture and values with audiences around the world. In an interview with The Epoch Times, Shen Yun’s orchestra conductor and vice president Chen Ying said, “To force Shen Yun to cancel performances, the CCP has even threatened the lives of world leaders. This shows just how rogue and desperate its methods have become.” She added that this demonstrates how much Beijing fears Shen Yun’s exposure of the regime’s abuses on the global stage.
Italian musician Enrico Minaglia, who attended the March 17 performance, said he developed a strong interest in Falun Dafa and wished to explore the spiritual foundation behind the artists’ achievements.
Carlotta Tirola, another audience member, was deeply moved to tears. Reflecting on one of the performance’s storylines, she said:
“It was also beautiful to see goodness carried forward, despite everything. You can even be a beast, but I don’t repay you with the same coin—not because I want to say I’m superior, but because I have more heart. I have more heart, more awareness of myself and of you.”
Her words echoed a central theme conveyed through Shen Yun’s storytelling: that deep-rooted faith empowers one to meet adversity with compassion.
