MISSISSAUGA, Canada—Shen Yun Performing Arts raised the curtain at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on March 14. Among the audience members was Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament Sheref Sabawy, who presented Shen Yun with a proclamation celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary.

“Integrating the dimension of the infinity to the theater, and characters [that] come from the far end and then show up on the stage is amazing. The integration is amazing, the synchronization is amazing,” Mr. Sabawy said of Shen Yun’s renowned special effect, allowing its dancers on stage to interact with an infinite number of scenes through its patented use of an animated backdrop.

“Everyone is a small piece of the whole picture and everyone does his job perfectly so that we see that perfect picture—colors, lights, music, dresses, everything is very, very impressive.”

Through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun seeks to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture that the Chinese Communist Party has been systematically seeking to destroy, to this day.

Former Member of Parliament Wladyslaw Lizon said, “This show always brings something new. But we still have to remember that people in communist China are persecuted, Falun Gong and other groups are persecuted for one thing, for their beliefs that don’t align with the current policies. I truly hope that this ends, and soon.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006, and has grown to eight different companies. It presents an all-new performance of “China before communism” every year.

Mr. Sabawy said, “Everybody should see [Shen Yun] because it’s a wonderful kind [of] opportunity. It’s here.”

Shen Yun will be performing at the Centre In The Square in Kitchener, Canada, on March 24–25 before touring to Toronto and Vancouver.
