MILWAUKEE, Wis.—Irene Pasinski, a painter, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 22 at Marcus Performing Arts Center.

“The colors, the movements, the choreography were all beautiful and uplifting,” Ms. Pasinski said.

Shen Yun, based in New York, is on a mission to present “China before communism,” and revive people’s connection with 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture.

“The storytelling is a human experience that can engage all of the people in the audience,” Ms. Pasinski said.

Shen Yun uses classical Chinese dance to tell stories from China’s five millennia. Its dance stories also portray the modern true story of Falun Dafa practitioners being persecuted for their faith in China. Falun Dafa is a peaceful practice that teaches the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

“As an artist and a religiously spiritual person, I appreciate so much that an oppressed people—rather than fighting or being low vibration—brings art to the solution and peace. Because we are divine beings on Earth going back to heaven,” Ms. Pasinski said.

When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) came into power less than a century ago, it systematically destroyed and distorted Chinese history and culture. But Ms. Pasinski believes that art should be used for truth and divine purposes.

Art and beauty and truth are the three sisters that come together and give us a sense of our creator until he comes again,” she said.

Shen Yun was established by elite artists who fled persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. Their mission is to return to the world’s stage the glory and beauty of pre-communist China

“When we experience the joy of beauty and art, we’re understanding the fingerprint of that creator in our life. It’s such a wonderful reminder that the path to God comes through suffering,” Ms. Pasinski said.

In many of Shen Yun’s dances, the audience witnesses the contrast between good and evil. However, the divine is willing to lend a hand to those who uphold moral values even when it is difficult.

“These are the types of themes that seem to recreate good, bad, evil, thieves, taking what is golden. Finding out that they'll never win against the chosen ones that God loves. It’s all universal, and it’s beauty and truth. It helps to remind you who you came from,” Ms. Pasinski said.

She also shared that she’s glad to have shared this experience with the others in the audience.

“I’m so happy that I was able to come with my friends to experience this today. … I’m very pleased to have the common experience with many people that all feel the same way and all look for the same beauty in their life together,” she said.
