MEXICO CITY, Mexico—On the evening of May 1, Shen Yun Performing Arts presented its opening performance at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. Audience members praised the production for its exceptional artistic quality and refined presentation, describing it as a performance of outstanding caliber.

Among the attendees was Roberto Micheletti Jr., an attorney and vice president of an industrial and food company, who came with his family. He said the show was captivating and rich in content, leaving a strong impression with its presentation of traditional culture.

“This is a very beautiful show. What caught my attention most is the traditional cultural content it represents,” Mr. Micheletti Jr. said. “It’s a type of dance I had never seen before. The coordination of the dancers, the way each story is presented, the precise synchronization with the orchestra, and the professionalism of the performers—it is all very striking.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s divinely inspired heritage and share with audiences the beauty of “China before communism.”
The performance takes audiences on a journey through China, from ancient times to the present-day, where Shen Yun depicts the suppression of tradition, faith, and freedom of speech under the communist regime, as well as the courage of those who remain steadfast in their faith.
Mr. Micheletti Jr. particularly noted one of the pieces depicting the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.

“It is important to learn about this persecution,” he said. “I think our culture is not familiar with it, being so far from China. I am only now becoming aware of this, and it is really sad to know that such persecution exists today, in this day and age.”

Mr. Micheletti Jr. also reflected on a scene that conveyed hope through a sense of divine presence and protection.

“It is a way of showing that God is watching over us and can protect us,” he said.

As a person of faith, he said he resonated with the performance’s spiritual themes.

“For me, it means realizing that we have a Creator and that we are accountable to someone above,” he said. “[Knowing there is a Creator] also means having wisdom and guidance to face daily life and every kind of difficulty that comes our way.”

He described Shen Yun’s message as meaningful and worth sharing more broadly.

“It is a show that should be seen. I think it should be taken to more cities so that this culture, and above all the message it carries, can reach more people,” he said.

In closing, Mr. Micheletti Jr. expressed his admiration for the performers and the artistic team.

“I am very impressed by the dedication of the artists, the choreography, and the effort and energy they put into creating such a wonderful performance,” he said.
