WORCESTER, Mass.—Shen Yun Performing Arts raised the curtain at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester, Massachusetts, dazzling audience members on April 25. Theatergoers shared the positive emotions they felt from watching the performance.

“It was very, very moving. I’ve never seen anything like it. I go to plays, often I go to musicals, but the spectacle was just astounding. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Francis Cichowski, a former machine designer, said.

“It’s hard to find perfection in today’s world, and this is absolute perfection. It’s the finest,” Ken O’Connell, a cloud engineer said. “It’s beautiful, visually stunning, and the dance is just unbelievable.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from “China before communism,” a culture the Chinese communist regime has been seeking to destroy since taking power in 1949.

Baihe Tang, co-founder and chair of the New Hampshire Asian American Coalition, said “I was born and grew up in China under communism and during the Mao era. And the Cultural Revolution destroyed all the traditional values and cultures. This show portrayed to me that I did not really learn a lot of real Chinese history when I lived in China until I came to America. So I feel sad, and I also feel like it’s just so beautiful, so amazing. And I hope that you will continue to spread the word throughout the world so people know what the real China is about before communism took over.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the world since 2006 and brings an all-new performance each year.

Mr. Cichowski said, “Your performers jump up, and they seem to stay there for a while. I haven’t figured that one out. It actually seems to defy gravity.”

“Thank you, artists. You are the voice for those voices inside China. Continue to stay healthy and happy. Spread the word and spread the messages of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance,” Ms. Tang said.

Mr. Cichowski said, “Thank you so much for this experience. Thank you for sharing it with my wife, who lives in the moment. She’s in the early stages of dementia now, and I’ve wanted to see this for years. We only have so much time. Thank you for that.”

“I’ve never seen anything like it, and it’s a must see show,” Mr. O’Connell said.

Shen Yun will be performing in Stamford, Connecticut, from May 7–10.
