PHILADELPHIA—House Minority Whip for the State of Delaware, Lyndon D. Yearick, found time in his busy schedule to present a proclamation in support of Shen Yun Performing Arts and attend a performance at the Miller Theater on May 10.
“I’m motivated, energized, appreciative of what we have, [including] all of our great privileges and freedoms that we have here in the United States, that unfortunately are still lacking in mainland China, and that many, many others do not have.
“We should never take these things for granted,” Mr. Yearick said. “The show is a reflection of the peace and the harmony, and what can be accomplished as we are great human beings together.”
“We’ve always been advocating for the elimination of organ harvesting that still continues on. It’s just a terrible, terrible practice that dehumanizes individuals [who are] sacrificed for their body parts. We need to keep reminding people that it’s an awful, awful practice. Unfortunately, [the communist regime] utilizes those organs throughout the world in a deep, dark, black market.”
“It’s horrific. Ideally, the leadership in China, in Hong Kong, could find a way to have a peaceful resolution and find a way to promote freedom and liberty. [There should be] opportunities for all [without] the fear of persecution by a strict government that could intervene at any time and take those liberties away,” he said.
He noted that the CCP’s persecution has happened even in the United States. “It’s terrible in what they do, not just in the mainland, but yes, they’re spreading their fear, and their intimidation and persecution throughout the world,” he said. “And ideally, here in this country that promotes freedom, liberty, and opportunity, we can rein that back in.”
Mr. Yearick expressed his wish for “having a peaceful and respectful relationship with all countries.
Higher Calling
The opening and closing scenes present the Creator giving humanity culture and saving the world from disaster. Mr. Yearick appreciated the spiritual message in the performance.“The Creator, the great Divine, is very [wonderful.] We’re all thankful and appreciative of our Lord and our Savior here in our country. We do have borrowed time, limited time, here on earth, hopefully we can make a difference here. We have a higher calling, and that is a terrific reminder of that during the show.”
Mr. Yearick had kind words for the performers and production, and said he had “a real appreciation of the hard work, talent, reflection, and the overall meaning of the show.”
Although Shen Yun has performed on the greatest stages of the world, unfortunately, it is banned in China. Mr. Yearick noted that “the struggles still continue for Chinese looking for freedom. Unfortunately, they don’t have that in their home country.”
‘Well Done’
To Shen Yun’s artistic director and performers, Mr. Yearick said, “Well done! Well done! Just the time, the sacrifice, and the commitment that it takes to be at such a high-level performance. It really shows in the quality of their performance, the reflection of their talent, and their practice. It’s just a testament of their theatrical and musical talents, and their dance talents for sure!”“We all value that freedom and our ability to raise our families and provide for them. [We value] high-quality education and safe neighborhoods [for our children], and that is no different than any part of the world. Here in the United States, we’re very blessed. We’re very grateful for all the opportunities that we have that, unfortunately, many do not.
“But the show is just a reminder that we should never take these freedoms for granted. And we should continue to promote for those practices worldwide,” he said.
