CURITIBA, Brazil—Veterinarian and clinic owner Simone Bandeira, who experienced Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 26, said, “The performance conveyed a very powerful spiritual message. It was so beautiful—I am enchanted.”
Ms. Bandeira attended the opening performance of U.S.-based Shen Yun Performing Arts at Teatro Positivo in Curitiba, Brazil. She spoke with admiration about the production’s depth, describing it as both artistically refined and rich in meaning.
“It is a very beautiful performance, with political, social, and artistic dimensions,” she said. “It conveys the meaning of the divine and the importance of maintaining traditions.”
As the curtain rose on a scene of divine beings descending to Earth, Ms. Bandeira said the message resonated strongly with her personal beliefs. She described feeling a profound personal connection at that moment.
“I strongly believe in that,” she said. “I think we are all part of the same divine source, parts of the same whole, and that we are truly here on a mission.”
She added, “I believe we are all here with the same purpose of evolving—of improving our planet, improving our lives, and improving the lives of others. I think we are going through a very auspicious moment in this sense.”
She also shared her thoughts about the enduring moral themes featured in Shen Yun’s storytelling and the importance of preserving them.
“The divine will always be the divine, and good deeds will always be good deeds,” she said. “We should not be carried away by the modern world or think that everything has changed. This struggle to preserve traditions and keep them alive deeply moved me.”
The performance takes audiences on a journey through China, from ancient times to the present-day, where Shen Yun depicts the suppression of tradition, faith, and freedom of speech under the communist regime, as well as the courage of those who remain steadfast in their faith.
Ms. Bandeira said these scenes left a lasting impression on her.
“Meditation is a way to communicate with the divine,” she said. “When the male dancer waved the banner with such strength and conviction, that became very clear. They truly practice this faith, and it was very beautiful to see.”
The soprano’s performance also resonated deeply with her, particularly the message conveyed through the lyrics.
“We are living in a time when we see a lot of moral degradation. But at the same time, we have certainty in divine principles—as if the more shadow there is, the more light enters,” she said. “This dichotomy between the spiritual and material world becomes much more relevant.”
In closing, Ms. Bandeira offered words of encouragement to the artists.
“May you continue spreading this message more and more to the world,” she said, “because we need people of faith doing this kind of work.”
