High blood pressure or hypertension is called the “silent killer” because it often has no symptoms to warn someone that something is wrong. Because it brings a higher risk of heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death in the United States, it’s good to know what can cause it and how to manage it.
Hu Naiwen, a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) physician at the Shanghai Tong Te Tang in Taipei, Taiwan, explained in his YouTube program “Hu Naiwen’s Health Talks” that pressing some key acupoints can be used to control blood pressure and potentially avoid the health risks associated with long-term use of antihypertensive drugs.

Causes of High Blood Pressure

Hu says that TCM believes there are different reasons for high blood pressure, for example, negative emotions can lead to hypertension.
