At 45, Jackie Curran couldn’t sit through a meeting or sleep through the night. A life-long athlete, she chalked up the pain to overtraining, or maybe a back issue. For nearly a decade after her back first started showing pain, she powered through high-intensity interval training classes and long runs, unaware that the real problem was in her hip.

“I couldn’t even stand up straight. I thought it was my back. But when they did X-rays and said, ‘Your back is fine—it’s your hip. You need a replacement,’ I started crying,” she told The Epoch Times. “I didn’t understand how that could be true.”
