KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—On the afternoon on March 2, Director of Taiwan Chorus Wu Hung-Chang, came to the Kaohsiung City Cultural Center to watch Shen Yun Performing Arts performance for the eighth year. He commented after the show, “The training aims for perfection. The evening is an apex of all performances and ultimate form of compassion and beauty.”

Mr. Wu was thrilled by the seamless coordination between the background animation and the movements of the dancers, “The disappearance and the appearance of the characters is connected so smoothly.”

When talking about Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted for their belief in present day China, Mr. Wu said, “Through the presentation of dancing, the audiences can quickly and clearly feel the message. Tears were in my eyes and I couldn’t help it. The kind of shocking and touching feelings come from the bottom of my heart.”

Shen Yun presents a new program of performances every year with original music and dances. Mr. Wu was impressed, “Shen Yun is truly world class. Based on the five thousand years of Chinese culture, Shen Yun uses stories and dancing and comes up with various types of programs. This kind of spirit is not easily attainable, such creation is hard to achieve. Those in charge of making the music, telling the stories, and choreography are magnificent! I highly respect them and the outstanding work they have done. I want to learn from Shen Yun and create miracles in promoting and creating art.”

Mr. Wu highly said he would recommend Shen Yun to his friends and students and looks forward to Shen Yun each year, “after I saw it the first time, each year I come to the show excited. I look forward to a different sensation and thrill. The excitement each year is greater and sometimes tears were in my eyes and I didn’t even know why.”

The Performance Didn’t Waste A Second

Chang Po-Yo, Chairwoman of Central Election Commission, also attended Shen Yun’s performance. After watching Shen Yun for a second time, she believed that Shen Yun was an eye-opener and refreshing, “The evening combines elements of live music, dancing, and martial arts. There wasn’t one second wasted between performances and the tempo was perfect.”

“A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance,” according to the Shen Yun website.

Ms. Chang found “The music was very charming. The Western and Chinese musical instruments created an effect of great momentum, fantastic!”

Established in 2006, New York-based Shen Yun revives 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through the performing arts.

Ms. Chang said, “The overall presentation was superb and breathtaking! There was a lot of spiritual culture in it and in every aspect it showed that Shen Yun is an outstanding performance group.”
