Watching Shen Yun: ‘As an artist, it makes me want to draw a certain way’

“It was amazing, a different style of humor, the aesthetics, and the way everything flowed—it was wonderful, gorgeous.”

“The combinations of color schemes, color itself, and then the way certain parts of the orchestra [was performed]—I’m going to give you some insight as an artist—certain parts of the orchestra struck and made me want to hold the brush with a nice curvature. I visualize it just by listening and watching it. The connectivity of how it all synchronizes, as being a human being and taking in that moment. There were times when I listened to the orchestra and saw it as art in my head.”

“You just feel it in the intensity of the motion. As an artist, it makes me want to draw a certain way, when I was listening to it.”
