LAS VEGAS—Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company received another standing ovation from a sold-out audience at its final performance in Las Vegas at Reynolds Hall in the Smith Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 23.

In the audience was Christine Wilson, president of Christine’s Glass, Inc. She is a talented artist specialized in a unique medium of design and creates one-of-a-kind stained glass works of art.

For eight years, New York-based Shen Yun has been touring globally, bringing 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture to life through music and dance. “Millions have seen Shen Yun. Standing ovations at the world’s top venues, royalty attending in Europe, sold-out shows throughout North America, and packed houses across Asia have made Shen Yun an international phenomenon,” states the Shen Yun website.

Ms. Wilson said, “It’s fabulous! The colors are exceptional.” She continued, “I think the vibrancy of the color for me is what’s really dramatic. I really love that, yes.”

She marveled that the dancers could express themselves, and added, “It was very powerful. The dancers are exquisite.”

According to the website, “A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance.” It further explains, “Classical Chinese dance has its own training in basic skills, physical expression and postures, leaps, flips, spins and other difficult tumbling techniques, forming an extensive and independent dance system.”

Ms. Wilson said she also appreciated the spiritual aspect of the Shen Yun performance. She commented, “I was saddened to hear that meditation is not accepted in China. I meditate—it’s very important to me.”

She was referring to the dance titled The Steadfast Lotus which depicts the ongoing persecution of people who practice Falun Dafa, a spiritual meditation discipline based on truth, compassion, and tolerance. The persecution was instigated by the Chinese communist regime in 1999 and continues to this day.

Ms. Wilson said that Shen Yun is wonderful, and that she will definitely recommend it to others.
