PARIS—On Feb. 14, Shen Yun Performing Arts opened to a sold-out hall at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.

If February 14 is traditionally the lovers’ day, the past Tuesday evening was the celebration of lovers of the beautiful traditional values that have forged many cultures throughout the centuries.

Indeed, Shen Yun Performing Arts’ mission is to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely-inspired culture and history through story-based dances that tell tales from ancient times to the modern day.

Among the many spectators who came to enjoy the show in Paris were Charles and Anne-Marie Vincensini. Both are now retired, Charles as a former manager of an accounting firm and Anne-Marie as a journalist.

They loved the performance and thought Shen Yun’s artistic level to be “very, very high!” Mr. Vincensini said.

“It’s perfection! The overall movements are a perfect coordination between the people on stage,” said Mr. Vincensini. “And the costumes! Then this effect between the stage, which is not really a stage but an animated digital background, which merges with the real characters on stage. It’s spectacular and unusual.”

Indeed, Shen Yun’s digital projection instantly puts you on the scene. This Shen Yun innovation creates seamless interaction between projection and performers on stage—an invention so original it has its own patent.

Mr. Vincensini was particularly moved by the messages conveyed in Shen Yun. He shared his understanding: “China is a very ancient country with a philosophy of traditions which deserves to be taught and practiced again today.”

For this former company director who visited China, “Chinese people are the sons of Heaven ... this appears and shines throughout the whole show.”

Mr. Vincensini mentioned resonance with the principles of “truth, compassion, and forbearance” cultivated by Falun Gong practitioners, a Buddhist meditation discipline which has been subjected to brutal repression and persecution by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.

He believes “the message is Christian, which proves there is a convergence in all high-level philosophies.”

“I think it is universal! It is showing altruism towards each other. Love your neighbor as yourself. In other words: kindness,” he said.
