PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Shen Yun Performing Arts gave mothers in the audience a Mother’s Day treat at the Providence Performing Arts Center on May 11.
Lucy and Raymond Vasconcelos heartily enjoyed the performance. “I think it’s superb,” Mrs. Vasconcelos, a teacher, said. “It’s excellent. I love it. I love it.”
Mr. Vasconcelos, a former banking executive, said, “I think it’s very, very good. There are some things that I’ve never seen before. The choreography is superb, and the women are so swan-like. I am enjoying it, and I’m expecting the second half to be a little more exciting. But that doesn’t take from what they’ve done up to now. Superb,” he said.
Businessman Learned ‘a Lot’ from Shen Yun Dance Stories

He liked the artistic way in which Chinese culture and history were shared on stage.
“I find the history fascinating, and the information that’s all new to me,” he said. “I think it’s done beautifully.”
“I think that oftentimes we have a very American view of China,” Mr. Williams said. “It’s isolated. It seems very mysterious and very removed from our way of life. So I know it’s a lot more than that. It’s nice to come to something like this and get that cultural experience.”
He felt a connection with the performers and music. “The pageantry of the show gives it kind of an ethereal, a certain connection there with the music and the dance.”
