Shen Yun Reminds Me of a ‘Past Life’

March 8, 2019

SYDNEY—Angelica Troll had a powerful experience seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts, the cultural phenomenon that brings to life 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, for the first time.

“It’s wonderful, it’s enchanting,” she said.

“I think in my past life, I must have been one of them because it’s magnetism to me.”

Troll said she thought the beautiful production was a good reminder of how we, as humans, need to remember to go back to the essence of what makes us what we are.

“It’s a message of love and peace,” Troll said.

“We’re so involved in the daily routine and materialism that we forget about the grand Creator. We forget to [give] thanks, we forget to ask for things, we forget that He’s there for us and … it’s a waste.

“This is a reminder. I wish more people will see this and understand it,” she said. “I love every bit of it.

“If there is love within yourself, you will project the love towards everyone around you. You have to believe in something and practice it. That’s what I like.”

The business owner shared that she felt enriched by the message of New York-based Shen Yun, which is showing in Sydney at the Lyric Theatre until Sunday, March 10. The performers then travel to dazzle audiences on Australia’s Gold Coast as part of its 2019 world tour.

She also expressed great admiration for the flexibility and the agility of the dancers. “It’s a lot of training for them to be that fit.”

She said she could tell that the performers were connected to their roots.

“It was wonderful to know that … all these young people [are] dedicating their life to bring out the history of China.”
