Shen Yun is ‘Spectacular’ and ‘Breathtaking’ Says Veteran Journalist

LOS ANGELES—“I think it’s spectacular, it’s amazing,” said Steve Finley, a veteran journalist of 40 years, who along with his wife Linda attended the Shen Yun Performing Arts’ at the Nokia Theatre on March 23.

“I think the costumes are just breathtaking; I think the dancing is fantastic. It’s jut a great show,” said Mr. Finley who now works at the Culver City News.

Shen Yun is a world renowned classical Chinese dance and music company that tours the world each year with a mission to revive China’s divinely-inspired culture.

Based in New York, the company is independent of the Chinese regime, and enjoys artistic freedom.

Mr. Finley who is a UCLA Supervisor, said the way Shen Yun portrays different stories through the dances is fantastic, and said it’s great that they’re based in New York so they can travel the world with their performance.

“I would recommend it to everyone I know. It’s a cultural event,” said Mr. Finley.

Equally impressed with Shen Yun, Mrs. Finley said Shen Yun is “Just beautiful. You can just see the work and the dedication that goes into doing a performance like this.”

Mrs. Finley also said, “Sometimes you can go to a theater and you can see people are just doing it for the money. But I don’t really see that here, I really see that there’s a message they’re trying to show, to bring to people to see and embrace.”

“The message [of Shen Yun] for me is that there’s so much more to life than what’s in your own backyard,” she said, while putting her hand by her heart. “Spirituality is something very deep for me, because I’m a spiritual person, but I’ve never been challenged in my faith. When you believe in something so deeply, that’s really what it’s all about, laying down your life for it.”
