SEOUL, South Korea—Ms. Kim Mi-ran, movie and drama actress, was inspired and uplifted by Shen Yun Performing Arts.

“Shen Yun delivered a lot of traditional cultures. I learned a lot from it. This is a very good performance,” she said after attending Shen Yun at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul on Feb. 16.
Ms. Kim said that Shen Yun programs presented a profound message: “human beings should be kind.” She felt she was cleaned and purified by the performance.
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s top classical Chinese dance company, and has a mission to show the beauty and goodness of “China before communism.” For 5,000 years, Chinese civilization was centered around the concept of harmony between heaven, earth, and humankind.

“The programs compared evil and virtue so clearly. I was deeply touched. I understood more that I should be kind,” she said. “I believe the bad people will become good [seeing this].”

Ms. Kim was astounded by Shen Yun’s beauty.

“This is a spectacle from heaven … Without any words, dancers delivered so many beautiful meanings in an artistic way through their movements,” she said. “I really want to suggest everybody I know to attend.”

Ms. Kim said she enjoyed the performance a lot. “I will remember this for a long time.”

Each Shen Yun performance consists of nearly 20 vignettes, presented through highly-expressive art forms such as classical Chinese dance, original orchestral music performed live, soloists who sing in the bel canto tradition, animated digital backdrops, and more.

Mr. Heo Won-do is a movie director and the chief producer of the Seoul Larkspur International Film Festival. He said that he enjoyed all the Shen Yun programs.

“The beauty of the performance dazzled my eyes. The sheer joy I obtained far exceeds my expectations. This is a very interesting show,” he said. “I enjoyed it a lot. I’m very happy.”

Mr. Heo said Shen Yun’s dynamic backdrop was very powerful.

“When the Buddha came out on the backdrop, the scene was stunningly majestic,” he said. “I really love it.”
