Exiting the theater at the end of the evening, Ms. Rudolf described the experience as “very engrossing.”
“I just wanted to be a part of it. The music was amazing. From a cultural standpoint, it was very educational as well, and I really, really like that a lot,” she said. “I loved it.”
The lyrics are “very much from the heart,” she said. “They sang in such a space where it really brought their heart out [to] the audiences.”
As a writer who advocates empowerment, health, and wellness, Ms. Rudolf was moved by Shen Yun’s incorporation of spirituality into dance and music. She felt a deep divine connection through the performance.
For her, Shen Yun’s message is about “getting in touch with your inner self and being true to it.”
The artists “definitely were expressing that from the soul—from the inside out,” she added. “I wish I were a lot younger so I could be up there too.”
By seamlessly blending the grandeur of a Western orchestra with the ethereal beauty of Chinese melodies, Shen Yun’s musicians create a profound emotional range that captures the depth of the human experience.
“The music was amazing,” she said. “I really struck the chord [with] the inner emotional aspect of it. You just wanted to be a part of it and just gravitate towards it. It was amazing.”
Reflecting on the story-based dances that raise awareness of the ongoing persecution of faith in China, Ms. Rudolf said the message was “very well portrayed.”
“I believe the way it was depicted really brought a sense of compassion out. The empathy was there; it brought the empathy out in the audience as well.”
“The artistic director was amazing,” she said. “He put [the performance] together with such flow and such grace and ease. Thank you.”
