DIJON, France—Shen Yun Performing Arts once again performed to sold-out crowds on Feb. 10, at the Zénith in Dijon, France, for two performances that day. Among the evening audience who came to discover classical Chinese dance was Oksana Havrilenko, a professional cabaret dancer, who was deeply moved by the performance.

“This show is a dream come true,” said Ms.Havrilenko. “The performers are wonderful, the orchestra is extraordinary, all the artists and the show are magnificent,” she said.

“Their level is very, very professional, a very high level,” she said. “It requires a tremendous amount of effort on the part of the artists.”

Shen Yun dancers undergo rigorous training in classical Chinese dance at schools affiliated with the company, such as the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts and Fei Tian College in New York, where they develop demanding techniques and complex movements unique to this ancient art form.

“Artists give off a lot of energy,” said Ms. Havrilenko, who felt a lot of love and happiness through the artists’ smiles.

“These artists are very strong, very endearing, and very sensitive people. They speak to the hearts of the audience,” she said.

“I am so happy, it’s a magnificent performance. It goes straight to the heart,” she said. “I cry every time I see the show.”

A Cultural Voyage

Also among the audience that evening was Francis Durand, a company manager who had given his wife the tickets as a birthday present.

“I think it’s wonderful, it’s really beautiful. The set design, the scenery, and the costumes are all truly magnificent,” Mr. Durand said. “My wife was very happy to come to this performance.”

“It really represents Chinese culture,” he added. “It’s captivating, it takes you on a journey. It’s something that really transports you and helps you understand Chinese culture. It’s very interesting.”

Shen Yun takes audiences on a journey through 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, bringing this ancient civilization to life through music and dance.

“It’s very profound and allows you to reflect and transport yourself into this mythical universe,” Mr. Durand said.

According to its official website, Shen Yun showcases a culture deeply rooted in spiritual traditions, in which dance expresses the harmony between man and the divine.

“I felt this spiritual connection, and the special effects are really well done and transport us into this spiritual universe,” Mr. Durand said.

Shen Yun’s interactive digital backdrop uses cutting-edge technology to expand the stage and transport the audience to different worlds, allowing characters to enter and exit the screen, creating a spectacular fusion of projection and live performance.

The spiritual world of Shen Yun also touched Mr. Durand.

“As someone who is devout in my faith, I find that there is a connection with the Catholic religion,” he confides. “We have this kindness, this benevolence that is very representative.”

“It’s a universal show that should be easily understood all over the world,” he added.
