BUFFALO, N.Y.—Shen Yun Performing Arts performed its final show at the Shea’s Performing Arts Center on Friday evening, April 25, to a captivated audience.

“Very artistic; it’s been great to watch,” said Annette Barone, chief financial officer with a northern New York company.

Ms. Barone said she found the Shen Yun dancers to be amazing.

“They’re incredible … they’re very talented,” she said. Shen Yun, formed in New York by leading classical Chinese artists, features classical Chinese dance and music. With a history going back thousands of years, classical Chinese dance is one of the most rigorous and expressive art forms in the world.

“Just their incredible talent and stamina, and the history of China and the stories they’re telling along with each dance, it’s very educational and it’s wonderful,” Ms. Barone said.

“It’s impressive,” added Ms. Barone’s companion, Scott Stover. “It’s entertaining … color-filled.”

Noting he has a passion for karate, Mr. Stover said that some of the dancers’ movements resembled martial arts.

The two also praised Shen Yun’s use of animated digital backdrops and the effects they realize throughout the performance.

“How they make it seem very realistic, the way they come out through the screen and then pop up…very well done,” said Ms. Barone.

She added that a lot of skill and talent have been put into Shen Yun’s performance.

“The dance is incredible. They’ve very, very athletic. And then the piece of history that you’re getting with it, all combined, is very incredible. It’s very enjoyable.”
