COSTA MESA, Calif.---Dr. Ali Parsa is a history professor at Cal State Fullerton. On the evening of April 16, he was among the full-house attending Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.

After watching the show, Dr. Parsa could hardly contain his excitement. “I’m so proud, so happy and so thankful to be here and witness all these great things. I have some knowledge of traditional Chinese culture. This show just brought it to life. I will tell my students that they have to come and see this because this shows how great the Chinese civilization is.”

Established in 2006 with the mission to revive the traditional Chinese culture, Shen Yun Performing Arts has been touring the world every year, displaying the essence of the Chinese culture in the language of dance and music.

As a history professor, Dr. Parsa looks at the show from a different angle. He said, “Shen Yun is more than a show. It is a culture. It is thousands of years old. Unfortunately it has been suppressed in China in the name of European communism. It’s great that Shen Yun is bringing the culture back to life and preserving it. The culture is preserved by the great dancers and artists. It’s such an amazing experience. I could not be happier in my life!”

A Shen Yun performance also features vocalists. The lyrics and music are original and filled with philosophical reflections on life. Dr. Parsa appreciated the deeper meaning of the lyrics, and said, “It was very, very touching. It really penetrated my heart.”

Mr. Parsa was very grateful for the opportunity to watch Shen Yun: “I hope for more of this. I hope for Shen Yun’s success. I would recommend it to everybody from every culture.”
