SEATTLE—“Oh, it’s awesome! Great!” said Jesper Bach, owner of Jesper C. Bach Inc., a logistics provider. “Well, it’s beautiful, elegant … I’ve never seen anything like this before, so it’s very interesting.”

Bach was speaking of Shen Yun Performing Arts, which he attended at Seattle’s Marion Oliver McCaw Hall on April 6.

“For 5,000 years divine culture flourished in the land of China,” reads Shen Yun’s website. “Humanity’s treasure was nearly lost, but through breathtaking music and dance, Shen Yun is bringing back this glorious culture.”

As a business owner, Mr. Bach said that he deals with China regularly. However, Shen Yun offered a side of the ancient country that he was not familiar with, and he was impressed by the portrayal of genuine Chinese culture—a culture nearly destroyed at the hands of the communist regime.

“Because we don’t know much about Chinese culture in general,” he said, “it’s a way to see how their tradition is because it goes so far back—their tradition is so old. So it’s very interesting.”

Mr. Bach was also taken by the dancers: “The way they perform is very elegant.”

“It’s more like watching a moment, seeing how beautiful they perform,” he added. “It’s more or less what I’m here for.”
