Pianist Highly Impressed With Shen Yun’s Music and Dance
Pianist Pearl Chan enjoyed Shen Yun’s performance at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto on Jan. 5, 2018. (NTD Television)

“The performance, especially the dancing and the music, are wonderful. The combination of the Eastern and Western instruments is a very good balance.”

“I find [the music] is excellent. I think that folk music is one of the most important influences in Western music, and clearly it’s the case in Chinese music as well, and it is very nice to hear that incorporated so well.”

“[The coordination of the music and dancing is] very impressive because there’s a lot of interaction clearly. I noticed a lot of times when the performers had rhythmic instruments, there’s some kind of question and answer with the orchestra, so it requires a lot of coordination and practice to get it right.”

“[The conductor is] doing a very good job. Coordinating it must not be very easy.”

“I would totally recommend seeing it. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
