KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Shen Yun often attracts people from a wide array of professions. The Shen Yun Performing Arts performance in Kansas City was no exception as Dale Walling, Interim Minister at FCC in Olathe, Kansas, and wife Linda, retired, were in attendance.

“Yes, I find it very impressive,” added Mr. Walling. “The Chinese dance is just really good, and my wife will be out here in a minute too, and she’s really enjoying it as well. She loves to dance.”

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” according to its website.

New York-based Shen Yun is known for its classical Chinese dance. Although many modern dances can be traced to classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun is unique in it’s portrayal of traditional culture and dance.

“I do like it,” continued Mr. Walling.

“I love it,” added Ms. Walling. “I love dancing so it’s beautiful. I like the story-line.”

Classical Chinese dance is so expressive, it can easily be used to tell stories.

Many people are surprised to see the intricate interaction with the performers provided by the projected backdrop. It is another aspect of Shen Yun that makes it unique.

“I think it’s great, and I think that the screen in the back makes it really good! The colors, and all of that, and the costumes were really great!” Mr. Walling said.
