Who doesn’t love pancakes? They’re fluffy, delicious, and you can get super creative with toppings. From maple syrup to Nutella, whipped cream or even fresh fruit, the possibilities of how you can enjoy your pancakes are endless. The problem with pancakes is that A) they can be quite time consuming to make in the morning and B) they often aren’t the healthiest thing to eat, at least not on a regular basis.

But what if I told you that you could still enjoy pancakes but in a much healthier variety? I’m talking protein- and nutrient-packed pancakes which are super easy to make and can keep you fueled throughout the day. Believe it or not, it is true. You can very well enjoy your pancakes without the guilt of eating too many calories or fat – and here’s how you can do it.

Protein Pancake Recipe

Ingredients

  1. All you need is a ripe banana, oats, protein powder, and one egg.
  2. Mash up the banana, scramble in the egg, add in some oats and a scoop of protein powder, and you have your mixture. You can add in as much oats as you like depending on how runny the mixture is or how crunchy you want the pancakes to be.
  3. When I made this recipe, I even sprinkled in a dash of cinnamon which not only tastes delicious but is also helpful to sustain glucose levels throughout the day. You can add whatever other spices and ingredients you like – like some cocoa, flax seeds, coconut shavings – anything you can think of that can give these pancakes an added boost.

Directions

Now that your mixture is ready, you can make these pancakes as you normally would any other type of pancake. I personally like to melt down some coconut oil to cook my pancakes in, but you can use any type of healthy oil for yours. Just make sure you don’t use too much oil, just enough so the pancakes don’t get stuck to the pan.

Even if you make too many, I find these pancakes can easily be taken with you to be enjoyed later on in the day. Maybe refrigerate and reheat them so you have breakfast for two days?

As you can see, these pancakes have all the essentials for the perfect breakfast. Bananas offer a good dose of potassium, are known to help lower blood pressure, and keep you fuller for longer. Oats contain a type of fiber that can help reduce cholesterol. Oats are rich in omega and other nutrients, and can help prevent constipation.

Eggs, of course, are packed with protein and other essential vitamins, and the protein powder adds flavor and gives you an extra boost of protein. As mentioned, you can take your pancakes one step further by adding in other healthy ingredients that not only enhance the flavor but can provide you with all-day health benefits, too.

These protein pancakes aren’t just for those who are health conscious. Everyone will enjoy them all the while receiving essential nutrients their bodies need.

So why not give it a try? These pancakes are super easy to make and so incredibly delicious that you’ll forget that they are healthy for you!
