International School CEO Finds Shen Yun ‘Extremely Nice’

CANBERRA, Australia—“It was very nice. Extremely nice,” said Johnson Pearce, CEO of JP International College, after experiencing Shen Yun performing Arts International Company perform at the Canberra Theatre, April 5.

JP International College is based in Canberra and provides education for international Students.

Mr. Pearce said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it [Shen Yun].”

The New York based Shen Yun brings five thousand years of Chinese culture to the stage through music and dance.

According to its website “Chinese dance is at the heart of what Shen Yun does. Known for its incredible flips and spins, and its gentle elegance, it is one of the most rigorous and expressive art forms in the world.”

“The dancers are beautiful,” Mr. Pearce said.

“The dress, the colours, the scenery, the backdrops—absolutely very, very, magnificent.”

Mr. Pearce said he felt Shen Yun have “taken very good steps towards promoting Chinese culture.”

Bob Secon who works for the Australian public service in the Department of Human Services was also at the performance.

‘It’s magnificent’

He said, “I’m enjoying it. It’s magnificent.”

A hallmark of the company’s productions is the vocal soloists’ use of bel canto operatic technique to sing Chinese lyrics. Together with soloists there were many aspects to the performance Mr. Secon appreciated.

“It was very good—the soprano, the dancers and all.

“The dragon sea with the background effect was very nice. Very well coordinated.”

Through dance, song, and live orchestral music, the performance brings to life legends and heroes from China’s long and rich history.

Mr. Secon said Shen Yun has done well in reviving traditional culture.

“I’m very proud of you guys for doing this.”

Both men said they would definitely recommend Shen Yun to family and friends.
