Americans are spending more on takeout than ever before, with restaurant meals now accounting for 55.7 percent of food spending, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service. In a recent survey in the United States, 50 percent of consumers eat fast food at least twice a week—and the number is increasing thanks to rising grocery costs.
While dining out is often associated with unhealthy choices, it doesn’t always have to be.
