KEELUNG, Taiwan—Ms. Hsu Su-chuan, a folk dancer who has been to various countries around the world to promote culture restoration movement, attended the performance put on by Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company at Keelung Cultural Center, on the evening of March 8.
Amazed by the spectacular full house performance, Ms. Hsu highly praised Shen Yun. She said that not only were the connotations of the Chinese culture demonstrated by Shen Yun very profound, but they could also make the globe become more compassionate.
Being a devoted Buddhist, Ms. Hsu said, “It (Shen Yun) is really very beautiful. The design of the stage gives the audience a feeling of blissfulness, which is hard to describe in words. Shen Yun (divine beauty) is indeed a wonderful name.”
The dancer highly appreciated the coordination between the dancers and the dynamic backdrops. She said: “In particular, the first program [Grand Descent of the Deities] is so overwhelming that I was deeply awed by the performance. It’s indeed awesome.”
Having seen Shen Yun performances for four years in a row, Ms. Hsu was full of admiration: “All the programs throughout the show are very touching. Shen Yun has really perfectly interpreted the essence of the 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture”, she said. “As what implied in its name, Shen Yun has presented the divine beauty to its audiences.”
According to the company’s website, Shen Yun’s artists follow the noble tradition of looking toward the divine for inspiration. The spiritual connection is motivation for them to strive to excel, is the heart behind each movement of the dancer and each note of the musician. It is why audiences can feel there is something different about Shen Yun.
Ms. Hsu said that Shen Yun conveyed what it wants to get across to its audience in an artistic form of combining dances, body movements, stage design, etc.
“A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance,” says the Shen Yun website.
It was obvious for Ms. Hsu that “dancers convey the messages of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance to the audience.”
The folk dancer further elaborated, “The spirit of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance is what Shen Yun wants to demonstrate. It is a divinely inspired concept and is a thought.
“It’s a kind of the law (Fa) that it wants to pass down to its audiences and other sentient beings.”
Ms. Hsu also expressed that the program demonstrated the authentic traditional Chinese Culture. She concluded by saying, “Shen Yun has made magnetic fields of the earth more compassionate.”
