Deputy Superintendent Says Shen Yun Is a ‘Beautiful Translation of Chinese History’

“I love it, the costumes are beautiful. The dancing is wonderful. The special effects with the [digital backdrop] video really add so much to it.”

“Tremendous. They [the students] don’t often see anything like this. … But learning the history of China through dance is a much more interesting way of learning the history.”

“The takeaway message is that there is a beautiful history in China that I think Americans don’t often get to see. I would say it’s a beautiful translation of Chinese history through time. And since I was a history teacher—the fact that this is not allowed to be seen in China is very sad to me.”
