LAS VEGAS—Retired CEO and consultant in the mining industry Dan Geiger and his wife, Dora Hart, were able to attend the highly celebrated Shen Yun Performing Arts’ New York Company performance at Reynolds Hall in the Smith Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 22.

“Love it,” said Mr. Geiger. “It’s beautiful.”

According to Shen Yun’s website, “In 2006, a group of leading classical Chinese artists came together in New York with one wish: to revive the true, divinely inspired culture of China and share it with the world.”

“A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance,” says the website.

Mrs. Geiger thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

“I love the choreography, the dances, the costumes, their expression. I think it’s really beautiful,” she said.

Mr. Geiger was impressed with the backdrop technology and thought it helped him understand and visualize the themes of the dances.

“The imaginative use of the back screen technology with ancient dances is brilliant,” he said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s traditional culture. As the website explains, “Shen Yun cannot be seen in China today, where traditional culture has been nearly lost. Yet Shen Yun—a non-profit organization—has become an international phenomenon, bringing the wonders of ancient Chinese culture to millions across the globe.”

Mrs. Geiger was especially touched by the spiritual values shared in the performance.

“I was mostly impressed [with] truthfulness, compassion and tolerance,” she said. “I thought it was really beautiful.”

Mr. Geiger agreed. “Those values are universal,” he said. “I enjoyed that very much.”
