FOLSOM, Calif.—Music is a window to the soul, and dance and music complement each other in a way that no other two art forms can.
“That was very well done. I really appreciated it. I appreciate the discipline and the organic process of Western and Eastern fusion,” said Marcus Feldman, a composer, after seeing a performance at Harris Center in Folsom, California, on Jan. 25.
“I really enjoyed the compositions. I think that it was really well done,” said Mr. Feldman.
He added that music to him is healing and a form of communication.
Regarding the performance as a whole, Mr. Feldman said, “I loved it. I had tears in my eyes the whole time. It’s so beautiful.”
Shen Yun’s dancers are trained in classical Chinese dance, a dance form with thousands of years of history. Mr. Feldman shared that he could see the passion in the artists.
“The experience overall was just very deep and gentle, but also very fierce at the same time. There’s a lot of fire through the effort of the performance,” he said.
In attendance with Mr. Feldman was Linda Byrd, an astrologer. She added, “You can see the dedication in each of the performers. They were so wonderful. They were so animated and graceful and talented in every way.”
“It’s very important that this expression exists because most people in America don’t really understand pre- and post-communist China. So this is a very valuable contribution to that knowledge and insight,” said Mr. Feldman.
