SUWON, South Korea— On the evening of Feb. 9 2014, Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company presented a magnificent show at the Cyeonggi Arts Center in Suwon city, South Korea. Tourists from various cities in mainland China came in groups to Korea in order to watch Shen Yun. When exiting the arts center, some of them were in tears.

Qingdao Audience Members Organized a Shen Yun Tour: So wonderful, so wonderful!

At 10 p.m. Shen Yun’s second performance ended in the audience’s enthusiastic applause. Mr. Zheng, coming from Qingdao, went outside the arts center, with his eyes full of tears. He said: “We organized a tour to come here. It is composed of 17, or 18 people. The show is superb! This kind of performance is not available in mainland China. You cannot find anything like this in China because the Chinese Communist Party (the CCP) believes in atheism, and does not believe the existence of divine beings.

However, Shen Yun presents traditional Chinese culture in the form of dance. Ne Zha, you know, is a traditional story. [Chinese people] have known this story for a long time. Shen Yun performed this story by dance, and the effect is very great.”

Mr. Zheng said: “The synchronization between the animated back drop and the dances is so perfect. It’s really … You absolutely cannot see this in mainland China. I am indeed quite touched. China before did have culture like this, the 5,000-year traditional culture. Now it is presented through a global tour of Shen Yun. It’s indeed our pride.”

Audience Members from Heilongjiang: ‘A feeling of being saved. My hands become red due to sustained clapping’

Li Tang (anonym) from Heilongjiang province, together with his relatives and friends, purposely came to Korea to watch Shen Yun. When stepping outside the arts center, he had tears swirling in his eyes. He said with excitement, “This is Chinese traditional culture. It’s truly brilliant.”

“The arts form is traditional. I saw lots of truth (about Falun Gong), and have benefited tremendously from it.”

“I don’t know why, I am just so moved.” He continued, “I felt that I was being saved. It seemed like the scenes and the music are from heaven. Anyway, the trip is worthwhile.”

He mused: “In one’s life, one should behave according to ‘Truthfulness,’ ‘Compassion,’ and ‘Forbearance.’”

He is particularly fond of soprano Jiang Min’s performance at the end of the show. He raised his hands and said, “You see? My hands turned so red due to constant clapping. It’s really fantastic.”

Dance Teacher from Mainland China: ‘It’s really my pleasure to watch Shen Yun’

Mr. Xu, who teaches dance in mainland China, came to Korea specifically to see Shen Yun. He praised it: “A grand performance like this is rare. Usually we made our own music and recorded it before hand. But Shen Yun uses a live orchestra and the Western and Eastern instruments create a perfect harmony.”

He said: “It’s really a pity that such great culture cannot be promoted in China. But it’s my pleasure to be able to see it in Korea. I truly hope people in China can watch this performance.”
