GOLD COAST, Australia—“From the minute the curtain went up, the colours, and the costumes, were absolutely captivating,” said Dianne Cassillas, a ballet teacher after watching Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Arts Theatre, The Arts Centre Gold Coast, with her daughter, Angelique, on March 4.

Through the universal language of music and dance New York based Shen Yun takes you on a journey of 5000 years of traditional, divinely inspired culture and history.

“Its stunning beauty and tremendous energy leave audiences uplifted and inspired,” the website states.

“You’re transported on a spiritual journey,” Ms. Cassillas said. “I felt the storytelling was incredible. The technique of the dances was phenomenal—the classical Chinese dance was unbelievable and fantastic to watch.”

Classical Chinese dance has been constantly refined over thousands of years to become one of the most comprehensive dance forms in the world today.

“Soaking up profound wisdom from every era and dynasty, it has become a complete system of dance embodying traditional aesthetic principles with its unique dance movements, rhythms, and inner meaning,” according to the website.

Ms. Cassillas appreciated the technique and ability of the dances, but for her Shen Yun was so much more than a dance performance. It touched her heart and soul.

“I was inspired. I felt light. I felt blessed almost. I felt transported into a paradise of ballet and music and dance,” she said.

“I think the music touched me. The beauty and the precision of the dances, and the fact that they all dance in such perfect unison.”

She continued, “It seems like a soulful, spiritual awakening on stage—I was drawn into it. It awakened me and I just felt uplifted. Completely uplifted by the whole experience. It was wonderful!”

“I didn’t expect anything like I felt at the end of the show. It was just incredible.

She said she would encourage others come and experience Shen Yun for themselves. “Come at all cost, drop everything and get here because it’s the most wonderful experience you'll ever have on stage.”

Miss. Cassillas came to see Shen Yun with a broken collarbone, nothing could affect her enjoyment.

“I really like it, I love the costumes and all the dancing and I loved it,” she said.

“I loved it more than anything I have ever seen.”
