BADEN-BADEN—On Wednesday, April 30, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden hosted the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Company for the first time. This venue is Germany’s largest opera house and concert hall, seating 2,500 people.

Dr. Peter Oberst, a well-known senior physician at the Darmstadt Marien Hospital was delighted that he had accepted an invitation to watch the Shen Yun show.

He had been told that the Shen Yun’s artists mission was to bring back China’s 5,000 year culture, which was cast aside by the Chines Communist Party.

For him the Shen Yun “was an exceptionally great show, especially because it was like time travel through the Chinese culture, something that I had not been exposed to in the past.”

‘I had high expectations’

In the audience was Mr. Ralf Kern, an asset manager and global vice president of a German asset management firm.

The show was “fantastic, very impressive and done exceptionally well. Actually I had high expectations and was not disappointed. All that I expected materialized,” Dr. Kern said.

He shared that friends that had seen the show in the past invited him, hoping that he would be as impressed as they had been after seeing the show for the first time.

The mission of the artists is to familiarize the world with China’s culture, one that had been almost lost.

Therefore he said, “It is most important that the culture of a nation is maintained throughout time.”

Experiencing an Arabian Night Story

Mr. Armin Fahlpahl, a sales manager of a conglomerate and his wife Ms. Michaela Novakova, a former dancer that had moved to Germany from the Czech Republic were watching the opening Shen Yun show on the last day of April.

“It was absolutely beautiful. The show was well done. We both enjoyed watching the Shen Yun show. It was as if we were experiencing an Arabian Night Story,” said Mr. Fahlpahl.

But, most of all, I “ was most fascinated by the bond between the pictures on the backdrop and the performance. This is the first time I have experiences such a bond in a show.”

His wife, the former dancer, said “The Shen Yun show was truly perfect. I felt that the artists put all their heart into the show One can see that these performers have trained hard.”

Feeling harmony throughout the show, Mr. Fahlpahl said, “The show presented harmony and a bond between the music, colors and dance. It is a smooth bond.”
