DETROIT—At the Detroit Opera House, on the evening of Feb. 8, Shen Yun Performing Arts delivered another beautiful performance to a captivated audience.

David Wilson, president of Wilson Partners and a founder of the consumer-centric health care movement, came to see Shen Yun this evening with his wife and friends.

According to the company’s website, Shen Yun showcases mini-drama pieces that draw upon stories and legends that span China’s history. These stories are depicted through music and classical Chinese dance.

“I think the reality is that all the dancing is so beautiful, and so when you see beauty you think about God, and so it’s very beautiful,” commented Mr. Wilson.

China’s culture is said to be divinely inspired, an aspect Shen Yun has set out to revive on the world’s stage.

“I find it very interesting that there is some real faith and spiritual overtones that make the dance and the music even that much more beautiful,” said Mr. Wilson.

“Anytime you can reflect the beauty of human culture and human history it’s a beautiful thing,” he affirmed.

Mr. Wilson can identify with Shen Yun’s mission to revitalize traditional Chinese culture. “We need more of that in every culture that we have so that our children understand where they come from and the beauty that the world has been created for, for them,” he said.

With him that night was his friend, Dr. Miguel Lis-Planells, an accomplished neurosurgeon, who was recognized as one of “America’s Top Surgeons” by the Research Council of America in 2007 and 2008.

“I’m very impressed. We don’t know much about the Chinese culture, so it’s a great introduction,” Dr. Lis-Planells said.
