NEW YORK—Psychologist Mark Jonoson and Rachel Shora, a paralegal, attended Shen Yun’s evening performance together at the Lincoln Center.
Exiting the theater at the end of the show on April 7, Mr. Jonoson said Shen Yun was “so amazing.”
He saw the performers’ hard work and dedication in every aspect of the show and will “absolutely” recommend everyone to come see it.
Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Its performance is comprised of a series of short pieces that take its audience through the dynasties and across the vast regions of China.
Using classical Chinese, folk, and ethnic dances, as well as solo musical performances, Shen Yun recounts tales ranging from ancient times to the modern day.
Ms. Shora was very impressed by the dancers’ agility.
“The dance was amazing. How they have such mobility and [flexibility]—lifting their legs way up, perfectly parallel, and straight up above the head. It was amazing.”
“Having been told the story, then you can say, ‘Oh, I actually see it in the dance,’” she explained.
According to its website, Shen Yun’s patented 3D digital technology works together with the performers to “extend the stage to infinite realms” and brings to its audience “storytelling without limits.”
The duo loved this aspect of the performance.
Met with wide acclaim since its establishment in 2006, the company can be expected to return each year with a brand-new set of choreography and musical compositions.
