“The music was incredible. I was truly impressed,” he added.
Mr. Ratcliff said he was in awe of the dancers’ extraordinary athletic ability. “I couldn’t believe how high the male dancers jumped, and how the female dancers were able to do splits in mid-air,” he said. “The way they moved across the stage looked like they were gliding, with almost no vertical movement at all.”
“We loved it—it was beautiful. The costumes were amazing,” Mrs. Ratcliff said. “We don’t usually go to shows like that, and the way they interacted—the video with the dancers—was amazing. It was really cool.”
As a technology professional, Mr. Ratcliff paid close attention to the digital backdrop and visual effects.
“I thought the backdrops were really well done,” he said. “The resolution was really good—I couldn’t see any pixelation on such a giant screen. It must have been very high resolution.” He added that the animations were perfectly synchronized with the dancers, creating a visually surprising and enjoyable effect of characters appearing to “jump out of the screen.”
Beyond the artistry, Mr. Ratcliff said he was deeply touched by the traditional spiritual values embedded in China’s ancient civilization. “What really struck me was the beauty, the grace, and the spiritual aspect of it—I felt a lot of kindness and a strong spiritual presence,” he said. “Of course, the athleticism of the dancers and the beauty of the costumes were amazing as well.”
He added that the emotional power of the performance was evident throughout the theater. Mr. Ratcliff noted that a man from China sitting next to him was visibly emotional and cried during one of the scenes depicting the Chinese Communist Party’s atrocities.
“I would hope that art can bring influence,” he said. “Maybe art can start the cascade of influence.”
