LOUISVILLE, Ky.—I’m very impressed with the professionalism, and do they exude that same professionalism that I enjoy,“ said Bill Bitter enthusiastically about Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company. ”The people sitting next to me had the same impression. Everybody I talk to has the same impression, so [Shen Yun] has a marvelous organization and I congratulate [them],” he said.

Mr. Bitter saw this premier classical music and dance company with this daughter Barbara, a project manager for Rico.

“A phenomenal show, outstanding, absolutely outstanding—never seen anything like it,” Ms. Bitter said.

New York-based Shen Yun was founded in 2006 by artists seeking to bring back the traditions and virtues of ancient China.

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” according to the company’s website.

“It’s really super, really super. I enjoyed every moment of it,” Mr. Bitter said.

Ms. Bitter singled out the colors, the costumes and choreography, saying they were amazing while Mr. Bitter mentioned “the choreography, the synchronization of the athleticism, the background—everything.”

He especially dwelled on the digitally animated backdrop. The “coordination of the film versus the actual individual coming off the stage and then projecting it out, I think that’s absolutely astounding,” he said.

Ms. Bitter explained that her father had been attending Kentucky Center for the Arts for 35 years, and that this performance was completely unique.

Ms. Bitter picked up on the spirituality of the Chinese culture from the songs and projected lyrics that are in both English and Chinese.

“It’s touching. It definitely impacts me. I think it’s such a rich culture,” she said in closing.
