VALENCIA, Spain—On the night of March 9, 2026, attorney Manuel Almenar attended the second performance by the Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Queen Sophia Opera House in Valencia, Spain, together with his wife.

After watching the performance, he expressed his admiration, describing the show as “spectacular” and full of surprises. “It’s truly the first time I have watched it,” he said. “I came here because my family members are here. I was highly recommended to watch the show.”

Mr. Almenar said the entire performance exceeded his expectations. “The message they convey and the coordination of each movement—no matter how small—are impressive. The work behind it is remarkable,” he said. What left the deepest impression on him was the performers’ precise coordination and discipline on stage.

Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, with a mission to revive traditional Chinese culture. Since its founding in 2006, the company has presented an entirely new program each year, captivating audiences around the world.
He also felt that the performance conveyed a profound spiritual message. “The spiritual message in the songs,” he said, explaining that “the lyric is about our Creator, whom we need in the world.”
Describing the overall atmosphere of the performance, he added, “I would define it as a divine show.” He praised the production’s visual beauty, noting, “The light they give off, the costumes, and the stage integrate seamlessly with the images. It’s very beautiful.”

Mr. Almenar said that in today’s busy and noisy society, people often lose touch with their spiritual side. The performance, he felt, reminds people to reconnect with that deeper part of themselves and to remember their origin. Emphasizing the importance of faith, he said, “Here we are in a suit, but we must return to where we came from.”

The live orchestra also left a strong impression on him. “I was there (in traditional China) with the music,” he said. “It was like I was moving to China—to the Chinese origin—even though I have never been to China.”

Mr. Almenar added that it is very important for people to understand China’s traditional culture before communism.

Regarding the Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to stop Shen Yun performances, including reported efforts to interfere with the shows in Valencia, he expressed support for artistic freedom. “I think the world is free,” he said. “They should be able to transmit all the effort they make. We live free here, and they can perform.”

Encouraging others to see the performance, Mr. Almenar said he was very glad he had the opportunity to attend and recommended that people not miss it if they have the chance.
