PHILADELPHIA—Abby Fatta and Larisa Ignatkova were full of praise for Shen Yun Performing Arts upon the conclusion of the performance.
“Oh my goodness [Shen Yun] impressed me so much I couldn’t stop crying; it’s absolutely mind-blowing,” said Ms. Ignatkova at the Miller Theater on March 9.
Ms. Ignatkova is a businesswoman and Mr. Fatta a businessman; their lives are focused on business, with little room left for thought about China, or its traditional culture, Mr. Fatta said. So, Shen Yun created for the entrepreneurs an entirely new experience.
“It is a phenomenal performance,” Mr. Fatta said. “It’s beautiful. It’s joyful. Chinese culture is indescribable.”
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company and has, since its inception in 2006, become a global phenomenon.
The artists’ mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through music and dance, showing audiences “China before communism.”
Mr. Fatta said he was moved by the “sincerity of the performance,” and Ms. Ignatkova agreed.
“Yes, it’s so touching. You could see the faces, the faith—it’s not just a dance or a dancer, they believe in it. You could see their eyes,” she said.
Ms. Ignatkova said she felt a message of “compassion, faith, and hope” from these artists, who were abundantly talented.
“Off the scales! Very skilled people, very skilled performance, very flexible, I cannot even express, honestly. It’s a joy and an absolute blessing to be here and see this performance,” she said.
“It’s mind-blowing, that’s all I can say,” Ms. Ignatkova said.
