Multiple police shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge this month have left families of police officers around the country on tenterhooks.

The Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) shared a picture on its Facebook page of two children in police uniform praying for their father’s safe return before he leaves for work.

“Praying their father and all police officers return home safely,” reads the caption.

The children are kneeling on the grass in front of an IMPD vehicle with their heads bowed.

“Praying with you our police need a break from the violence they are getting. May peace come sooner than later for our men and women in blue,” wrote a Facebook user in response.

“I pray with these sweet babies that their father and all of the other fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters.... All return home safe and sound after each tour. I pray that God watch over the men and women in blue each day. They have my prayers, support and admiration. Thank you for you service and I support and stand with law enforcement,” wrote another.

As of July 18, the post has accumulated nearly 6,000 likes with more than 3,800 shares.
