Both syphilis and congenital syphilis have been rising over the decades at alarming rates.

On Nov. 17, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported a total of 3,761 cases of congenital syphilis. This resulted in 231 stillbirths and 51 infant deaths in 2022.
