Conditions such as chronic pain, inflammatory diseases, and mood disorders, including depression and anxiety, are currently on the rise.
In 2021, an estimated 20.9 percent of U.S. adults experienced chronic pain—representing a staggering 51.6 million people. An additional 6.9 percent, or 17.1 million people, experienced high-impact chronic pain, according to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nearly 125 million people in the United States are living with a chronic inflammatory disease, and depression now affects more than 18 million adults.
