TORONTO—Mr. McColl, president and CEO of a high-technology machinery company, enjoyed the Friday premiere of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Canon Theatre in Toronto.

“The performance is terrific, it has got a good variety, and the dancers are exquisite. It has got a lot of colour, and the drummers are really good,” Mr. McColl said.

Watching the show for the first time, Mr. McColl said it helped him learn more about China and its rich culture.

“It is enjoyable to see some of the culture and get some of the history. It is educational for me, learning a little bit about the Chinese culture and the dance techniques of traditional dances.”

Shen Yun Performing Arts presents Chinese dance and music to audiences around the world. The New York-based company has made it its mission to revive China’s five-millennia old artistic traditions, presenting culturally-rich shows featuring original, hand-made costumes, a unique digital backdrop, and a full orchestra.

Mr. McColl commended the cultural aspects presented in the show and also praised the orchestra.

“For me it is a different experience. It is a different culture, lot of different dances,” he said, referring to the different Chinese ethnic dances in Shen Yun.

Shen Yun will play three more shows at the Canon, ending its run on Sunday Oct 11.
