Stir Fry Beef and Broccoli is a very popular Chinese American dish. You can find it in any Chinese take-out place in the US. Today I want to show you how you can make Stir Fry Beef and Broccoli better than any take-out restaurant!

Stir Fry Beef and Broccoli Recipe

Serving: 2 to 4 Prep time: 30 minutes Cook time: 15 minutes
Beef and marinade: 1 1/2 pounds flank steak, sliced 1/4 inch thick 1 egg white 1 tablespoon cornstarch 3 tablespoons water 1 tablespoon rice wine 1 tablespoon soy sauce Pinch of white pepper
For the stir fry: 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce 1 tablespoon oyster sauce 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil Pinch of white pepper ½ cup chicken stock ½ tablespoon cornstarch 2 tablespoons water 2 cups broccoli 4 tablespoons extra light olive oil 2 stalk scallions, white part

Stir Fry Beef and Broccoli Instructions

  1. To marinate the beef, in a large bowl, place in the beef, egg white, cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of water), rice wine, soy sauce, and white pepper. Mix until the beef has absorbed everything, and marinate for 20 minutes.
  2. To make the stir fry sauce, in a bowl, add the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and chicken stock.
  3. To cook the broccoli, in a pot of water over high heat, bring it to a boil. Blanch the broccoli for 30 seconds. Remove and drain
  4. To cook the beef, in a wok over high heat, add the extra light olive oil. Place in the beef slices, cook, and stir for about 2 minutes. Remove and drain all the oil.
  5. To stir-fry, in the wok over high heat, with the remaining oil left in the wok, add the scallions, and cook for 15 seconds. Pour in the sauce, and bring it to a simmer. Then pour in the cornstarch slurry (½ tablespoon of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water) to thicken the sauce. Return the beef and broccoli. Stir-fry everything together.
