KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Shengli Huang, the CEO of An Maw Enterprise, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts for the first time on March 2, at Chih—The Hall of Kaohsiung Cultural Center.

Exiting the theater at the end of the evening, Mr. Huang exclaimed excitedly that Shen Yun was “wonderful and incredible!”

After years of being an engineer, Mr. Huang said he constantly felt stressed and tense. However, that changed after spending just one evening at Shen Yun.

“The overall presentation and the content of the performance were excellent. I was especially touched by the live orchestra,” he said.

“The feeling it gave me was so peaceful it’s hard to describe—I felt very comfortable and relaxed. This is the first time I’ve felt this way in decades.”

In 2006, Shen Yun Performing Arts was established in New York by a group of leading artists longing to rediscover China’s lost glory.
Since its founding, Shen Yun has been touring around the world every year to showcase through dance and music, the beauty of China before communism.
Mr. Huang absolutely loved the solo performance of the two-stringed erhu.

“Even now I’m mesmerized by that erhu performance. The movement of the musician as she played, her expression—all of it was incredible! So touching.”

He added that although Shen Yun’s performance was just over two hours, “it brought me a whole new perspective. It strengthened me.”

Right before attending the show, Mr. Huang’s company was commissioned for a large project. Now that his heart and mind are clear and focused, Mr. Huang is sure that he’ll “be able to really concentrate and handle it well tomorrow.”

Also in the audience were Chaoqian Wang, the president of Weijyun Duo Agricultural Biotechnology, and his family of 10.

“I’ve brought my whole family here to see Shen Yun because the program is always different.” Mr. Wang said. “It’s also very educational, that’s why I’ve brought the children as well.”
Each year, Shen Yun presents a brand-new set of choreography and compositions. So, even returning audiences can expect a surprise every time.

“The story dances were always very touching—especially when they portrayed the dynamic between good and evil, the change in our society, and humanity’s future,” Mr. Wang added. “These are all important topics for us to consider. It’s what will improve our future.”

For Mr. Wang, watching Shen Yun is like “charging your batteries.”

“The optimism and positive energy Shen Yun delivered comforted our hearts. It was a great way to recharge,” he said.
