STOKE-ON-TRENT, UK —“We’ve never seen anything like it,” said dance teacher Sarah Bright after watching Shen Yun, expressing her admiration to the artists: “With absolute respect, total respect.”
On the evening of Feb. 17, Sarah Bright and her husband, Edward Bright, attended the opening performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Regent Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. Sarah is a dance teacher with 20 years of teaching experience, while Mr. Bright is a landscape professional who runs his own business.

Mrs. Bright expressed heartfelt admiration for the show. “It was absolutely amazing! The dancing was exquisite and graceful, yet at the same time so athletic. We’ve never seen anything like it. It was really wonderful!”

Mr. Bright echoed her praise, saying, “It was great. It was phenomenal!”

The New York–based Shen Yun Performing Arts is a leading classical Chinese dance and music company. Since its founding in 2006, the company has presented an entirely new program each year, captivating audiences around the world.
The couple was particularly struck by Shen Yun’s seamless blend of dance and music. Mrs. Bright, as a dance teacher, said, “I particularly enjoyed the dance, and I was glad to hear some authentic Chinese instruments, like the Erhu.”

Mr. Bright added, “There’s a lot to take in, and we’ll be taking it in for the next couple of weeks, I’m sure. It’s brilliant.”

Shen Yun’s patented 3D dynamic backdrop created an immersive experience that impressed both of them. Mrs. Bright commented, “Emotionally, the show was moving, and the addition of the immersive backdrop made it truly remarkable, adding another layer to the performance.”

Mr. Bright agreed, noting, “The backdrop makes this experience even more unique.”

One particularly magical moment came when the character Zhang Guolao transformed from an old man into a young man. Mr. Bright marveled, “It’s really magical!”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s culture as it existed before decades of communist rule nearly destroyed it. Through classical Chinese, folk, and story-based dances, the artists showcase China’s diverse regions and bring its rich history and culture to life.

For Mr. Bright, the performance was “a brilliant cultural and historical experience.” He added, “It was really magical, wasn’t it?”

Finally, in celebration of the Chinese New Year, Mr. Bright wished the performers well: “Keep it going! It was amazing. Good luck and Happy New Year!” Mrs. Bright took the opportunity to express her gratitude directly to the artists, reaffirming her admiration: “With absolute respect, total respect.”
