VALENCIA, Spain—Jesús Albiol Talaya, councilor in the Valencian Community, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 9 at Centro de artes escénicas en Valencia, Palau de les Arts.

“I’m loving it. I’m a repeater; I was here last year, and the show is very beautiful,” Mr. Albiol said.

Shen Yun, based in New York, is on a mission to present “China before communism,” and revive people’s connection with 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and culture.

“I love that you have been doing this show for 20 years, that it started in the United States, that this is the second year you have been here in Valencia,” Mr. Albiol said.

Shen Yun uses classical Chinese dance to tell stories from China’s five millennia. Its dance stories also portray the modern true story of Falun Dafa practitioners being persecuted for their faith in China. Falun Dafa is a peaceful practice that teaches the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

“The show manages to tell a very ugly story in a beautiful way. Through the beauty of the dance, of the dancers, it tells you a story of the persecution of Chinese tradition by communism. How they persecute them, how they torture them,” Mr. Albiol said.

Mr. Albiol also expressed that Shen Yun is presenting the true China. Although it is meeting with adversity, Chinese culture is resilient.

“I like to see that there is a China that is not the one we see on TV, a China that is not the one others show us. There is a real China, persecuted, but it exists and refuses to be exterminated.”

Shen Yun is performing in seven Spanish cities this season. But Mr. Albiol shared that he believes there are still cities in Spain for Shen Yun to visit.

“Why isn’t this in Aragon, why isn’t it in Zaragoza, or why isn’t it in Navarre? I’m going to help you talk to Navarra and Aragón, so that [Shen Yun] can go there. Because it’s very important that people know the story behind this,” he said.
