NORTHAMPTON, UK—Ju Lynne Saw, a civil servant for the Health and Safety Executive, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts on Jan. 20 at Royal & Derngate.
“To me, it was astounding, and it was jaw-droppingly beautiful. The backdrops were impeccable—everything was perfect. The colors, the lighting, the music, and the ambience—perfect,” Ms. Saw said.
“A lot of the performances had a traditional value that was embedded within them. So, there was a moral about how you need to be compassionate, kind, and they also taught the audience to be resilient as well,” Ms. Saw said.
“The advancement in technology, lots of people use lots of devices, and they sometimes lose track of their faith and their beliefs, and lots of good values are forgotten. I think the Shen Yun performance brought a lot of learning for people in terms of what they should try to not lose track of their faith and beliefs,” she said.
“We definitely could take some of those values into our lives in everything that we practice, and we do in our lives. For example, compassion, kindness, [and] integrity as well,” Ms. Saw said.
“All the dancers moved me. … They were amazing! A lot of them showed that they have worked quite hard to get to where they are. Everything was perfection. It was really impressive. It’s something not to be missed by anybody, really,” Ms. Saw said.
“It was amazing, actually. The fusion of both classical and modern instruments were basically perfect, because we brought together instruments from many hundreds of years ago and more instruments from modern day. Some of the percussion instruments, as well, were quite modern. It touched your soul when you listen to it,” Ms. Saw said.
